Major League Baseball News Article | |  | Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017: Chicago Trades Werth to Cincinnati for Romero The Chicago Cubs have parted ways with 36-year old right fielder Jayson Werth and 20-year old minor league closer Mark Brown, sending him to the Cincinnati Reds for 31-year old starting pitcher Ricky Romero. The Cubs general manager confirmed the deal in an announcement this morning.
Werth boasts a lifetime batting average of .259 with 1355 hits, 297 homers, 873 runs scored and 987 RBIs.
In his career Romero has compiled an ERA of 3.00 with 94 victories and 62 defeats and has held opponents to a .222 batting average. He also has struck out 1492 batters in 1468 innings and given up 1204 hits. | |
