The cold of winter is yielding to the warmth of spring, and a time when a young man's fancy turns to baseball. The Boys of Summer will soon be here in all of their radiant glory to put some sparkle back in the lives of baseball fans everywhere. There will be many of those seemingly meaningless exhibition games, but they do have an important purpose--to prepare teams for the coming regular season. The 2017 MLB Single A schedule has been announced, and the preseason starts today.

 | Wednesday, September 21st, 2016: García Tops Best Batter List
The Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award has been picked for 2016 and the winner was Warminster Heights catcher Armando García.
He finished his outstanding season with a .335 batting average, 163 hits, 17 home runs, 86 RBIs, .433 OBP and 89 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.

 | Wednesday, September 21st, 2016: Premier Batter Named by Sub League 1
Tom Hampton went on a season-long hitting spree against Sub League 1 pitchers and captured the Outstanding Hitter Award for 2016.
The Leavittsburg shortstop battered the opposition for 168 hits, 34 doubles, 2 triples, 5 home runs, 71 runs batted in and scored 93 runs. He hit .388 and posted a .437 on-base percentage.
For being named the SL1's top hitter, Hampton will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.
