| Friday, September 20th, 2019: SL2's Best Hitter for 2019 Named Terry Jones, the outstanding Branchville first baseman, certainly made an impression on Sub League 2 pitchers this past season. He pummeled them for 157 hits in 434 at-bats, 12 doubles, 1 triple, 16 home runs, 104 RBIs and scored 79 times.
That standout hitting earned him the Sub League 2 Outstanding Hitter Award for 2019.
This weekend Jones will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. | | Friday, September 20th, 2019: Aoki Selected SL1's Premier Batter Today the Sub League 1 announced the 2019 Outstanding Hitter Award. This year's honoree is Dugway's outstanding right fielder Naofumi Aoki. When he stepped into the batter's box this season, it usually was bad news for pitchers.
Aoki hammered them long and hard, finishing up the year with a .344 batting average, 159 hits, 28 home runs, 107 RBIs, .404 OBP and scored 87 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. | | Thursday, September 19th, 2019: Sub League 2 Top Pitcher Selected The Outstanding Pitcher Award for 2019 has been given out and the Sub League 2 winner is Jorge Marino of Buffalo. For his extraordinary season, he has been named the league's premier pitcher.
During the year, the Silversides ace stood out with a 14-4 won-lost mark in 26 starts. In 184.1 innings he yielded 161 hits and 57 walks, while striking out 190 and compiling a fine 2.34 ERA.
The SBWA will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting. | |
