He was injured yesterday against the Twins while running the bases. The standout 39-year-old center fielder has a bruised ankle and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury. "Yoenis will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible." This year Cespedes has collected a .315 batting average to date with 157 hits in 498 at-bats, 83 RBIs, 30 home runs and scored 85 times. He has played in 126 games. |
