"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Matt Belisle wanting out of Tampa surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Belisle laughed it off when told of the story.

SION has confirmed that the Mets and Ryan Dempster have come to terms on a $14,320,000 package that will keep the starting pitcher in town another 2 years.
Team officials are set to confirm the deal at a mid-morning press conference tomorrow.
This season Dempster has crafted a 7-5 mark with a 3.59 ERA in 97.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .251 against him and he has 92 strikeouts.

What a week it was for Jacoby Ellsbury! The San Francisco center fielder took National Player of the Week honors after wearing out the pitchers with a .591 batting average in his recent games.
Ellsbury registered 13 hits in 22 at-bats as he cracked 1 home run and drove in 7 runs.
This season Ellsbury is swinging the bat at a .299 rate with 69 hits in 231 at-bats. To date he has hit 4 home runs, scored 40 runs and driven in 28.
