| Breaking News |  | Monday, June 30th, 2014: Silva Wins SL2 Player of the Week Trophy
It was announced today that Scottsdale third baseman Roberto Silva has been acclaimed by the Sub League 2 as the Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
Silva posted a .593 batting average as he collected 16 hits in 27 at-bats, 1 home run and 5 RBIs.
So far in 2014 Silva is batting .353 with 7 home runs, 48 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has 100 hits in 283 at-bats and a .438 OBP.

Not every ball that came off Emmett Johnson's bat last week was a line drive or a towering shot -- it just seemed that way to the teams that played the Selma Detectives. For his exploits, Johnson was named this week's Sub League 1 Player of the Week award.
The Selma first baseman put up 15 hits in 32 at-bats and 1 home run while hitting .469 with 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored.
Posting a .269 batting average to date, Johnson has 6 home runs and 54 RBIs.

 | Saturday, June 28th, 2014: Anchorage's Middleton Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
All game long Anchorage's Chad Middleton was rattling the walls at Ballpark of Anchorage and banging out base hits against the Dugway Hailstorm. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Misfits had a 11-0 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 22-year-old right fielder said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
C. Middleton hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off M. Cabrera in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
For the year Middleton is batting .287 with 75 hits and 8 home runs. He has scored 31 times and driven in 37.
