| Breaking News | | Wednesday, August 6th, 2025: Ferron Goes 5-5 There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget. Patrick Ferron of the Thrashers had one of those moments when he went 5 for 5 at the plate today, but he couldn't pull out the victory. Despite his hitting heroics, Bakersfield fell in defeat 6-5 to the Chula Vista Blackhawks at Thrashers Ballpark.
The 21-year-old left fielder told reporters in the postgame interview, "This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time. It would have been very special, if we had won the game."
P. Ferron doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off G. Good in the 9th.
Thus far in 2025 Ferron has hit .380 with 4 home runs, 35 RBIs and scored 28 runs. | | Sunday, June 22nd, 2025: Hot Bat of Benson Burns Thrashers Jim Benson was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over the park, collecting 5 hits and leading the Challengers to a 18-3 victory over the Bakersfield Thrashers.
After the first three hits, all eyes in the ballpark were drawn to him each time he stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Newark left fielder said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for a high average is to relax, concentrate and hit the ball where they ain't."
Nobody was at home today as Benson finished the day with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
J. Benson singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, flied out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off D. Gibson in the 8th.
A look at his 2025 stats shows Benson with a .331 average, 3 home runs, 43 RBIs and 51 runs scored. He has played in 69 games. | | Saturday, June 7th, 2025: Baker 5-5 Against Thrashers Joe Baker of the Mudcats was unstoppable in today's 7-6 victory over the Bakersfield Thrashers at Ballpark of Whisper Walk. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Whisper Walk left fielder after the game. "All I had to do was swing, and I connected. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-5 will."
J. Baker singled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
Currently Baker is batting .355 with 77 hits and 2 home runs.
