| Breaking News |  | Saturday, September 20th, 2025: 2025 #1 Batter Picked The Sub League 1 Outstanding Hitter Award has been selected for 2025 and the award went to the standout Ashland left fielder Will Gray.
He starred this season with a .332 batting average, 135 hits, 23 home runs, 76 RBIs, .425 OBP and 79 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Sunday, August 3rd, 2025: Super Swinger! Hunter Slams 5 Hits! Steve Hunter was on quite a roll today as he knocked the ball all over Ballpark of Garland, collecting 5 hits, but wasn't able to win the game. He got his 15 minutes of fame and the Ashland Ironclads got the 10-6 victory over the Garland Concordes.
"Headlines and highlights are great, but it takes a lot of luster off of it because we lost the game," he expounded to the press after the game.
After the first three hits, everybody's in the ballpark was drawn to him each time Hunter stepped into the batter's box. Even a few of the opposing fans were pulling for him, knowing they were watching a little baseball-hitting history unfold.
In the clubhouse, crowded by reporters, the Garland second baseman said, "I never realized that batting a little ball around could cause so much commotion." When asked what the secret of hitting so well is, he smiled and replied, "The key to hitting for high average is to relax, concentrate, and hit the ball where they ain't." That's exactly what he did today as Hunter finished the game with 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a line in the record book.
S. Hunter singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, walked in a run in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 11th.
This year Hunter is batting .284 with 5 home runs. He has scored 66 runs and driven in 64. |  | Monday, July 28th, 2025: Big Stick Wins SL1 Trophy When it came to hitting the baseball, Robert Henstock had few peers in the Sub League 1 this past week.
The talented first baseman for Ashland tagged opposing pitchers for a .464 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 13 hits in 28 at-bats, 4 homers, 9 runs scored and 10 RBIs.
