The outstanding center fielder for Utica tagged opposing pitchers for a .500 average and was voted the Player of the Week Award. Included in his stats were 18 hits in 36 at-bats, 0 homers, 9 runs scored and 9 RBIs.
This year Davis is batting .307 with no home runs and 37 RBIs. | | Monday, June 30th, 2014: Sub League 1 Names Top Player It was announced today that Huntington Beach first baseman Ricardo Jiménez had received the Sub League 1 Player of the Week Award for his impressive play last week.
All week long he was terrific at the plate and won the honor with a .517 BA (15-29), 1 home run and 5 RBIs.
Jiménez is currently hitting at a .455 pace with 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and has scored 11 times. | | Thursday, June 26th, 2014: Bentley Whitewashes Indians Jack Bentley of the Wedgefield Diamondhawks was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Warminster Heights Indians with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 7-0 shutout.
In the postgame comments, the Warminster Heights skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The Wedgefield hurler had 6 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 3 hits in his complete game effort.
Bentley told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."
