Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory...your 5 minutes of fame...you get your name in the record book.
In the Windsurfers 19-7 win over Plano, William Alexander was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Windsurfers Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this was a special once-in-a-lifetime chance for the record book. On the last hit, I was ready to swing at anything close, I was that excited. That's why my third base coach called time and told me, 'Calm down and wait for a good pitch.' That got me back on track and I nailed the first one in the strike zone."
On his record-setting day Alexander delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats, a day he will not soon forget.
W. Alexander singled in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off B. Shepherd in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off H. St-Amour in the 9th.
This year Alexander is hitting .322 with 3 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 33-21, .611 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 2.0 GB | | Record at home | 19-8, .704 PCT | | Record on the road | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 6-3, .667 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 9-8, .529 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 24-13, .649 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 17-10, .630 PCT | | Record in May | 16-11, .593 PCT |
