| Breaking News | | Monday, May 19th, 2025: 5-Hit Barrage by Sizemore It was a big day with the bat for Don Sizemore of the Trenton Graylings at Ballpark of Trenton as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Pacifica 11-4.
To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 6 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Sizemore had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Graylings had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
D. Sizemore singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season in 37 games, Sizemore has hit at a .372 clip with 61 hits, 1 home run, 12 RBIs and 38 runs scored. | | Saturday, May 17th, 2025: 5-5 Game for Faulkner It was a sensational day at the plate for Grady Faulkner as he led the charge to a 14-5 win over the Aggressors.
The Trenton center fielder was pure misery for the Fort Washington pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Aggressors told SION reporters after the game, "Faulkner put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
G. Faulkner singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th, flied out in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
Presently Faulkner is batting .336 with 47 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 28 runs and scored 30 times. | | Sunday, April 27th, 2025: Great Day for McCarthy! 5 Hits! After the Trenton 13-3 victory over Paradise and his 5-hit day second baseman Edmund McCarthy told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 20-year-old player gained that distinction today at Ballpark of Trenton with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Paradise Cutthroats.
The skipper of the Graylings spoke glowingly of McCarthy, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Edmund did that to perfection today."
E. McCarthy flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off B. Stone in the 8th.
McCarthy is hitting .433 in 2025 with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has 39 hits in 90 at-bats and played in 20 games. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 28-26, .519 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 7.0 GB | | Record at home | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record on the road | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-2, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 3-6, .333 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 8-6, .571 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 20-20, .500 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in May | 14-13, .519 PCT |
