After the Trenton 13-3 victory over Paradise and his 5-hit day second baseman Edmund McCarthy told SION beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game is very good...three or four hits even better...5 or more are out of sight...and if it is in pro ball...it is really something special. It will get you in the record books."
The 20-year-old player gained that distinction today at Ballpark of Trenton with a spectacular 5 for 6 game against the Paradise Cutthroats.
The skipper of the Graylings spoke glowingly of McCarthy, telling SION writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Edmund did that to perfection today."
E. McCarthy flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off B. Stone in the 8th.
