Rich Bruce really did a number on the Aliens in the Saint James 11-5 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Rich Bruce did just that today for the Sultans and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 21-year-old first baseman said after his record-setting performance.
R. Bruce singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off G. Rochefort in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Bruce is batting .363 with 3 home runs.

| Monday, May 19th, 2025: Best Player Award Caps Great Week
What a week it was for Richard Newsome! The Saint James right fielder took Sub League 2 Player of the Week honors after wearing out the pitchers with a .591 batting average in his recent games.
Newsome registered 13 hits in 22 at-bats as he cracked no home runs and drove in 6 runs.
To date this season Newsome is hitting .325 with no home runs.

 | Friday, April 11th, 2025: Robinson Smacks 5 Hits for Pests
Danny Robinson told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."
Well, that's just what Robinson of the Dacono Pests did against the Saint James Sultans. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, But his club still suffered a 7-5 defeat.
"Not much I can say," offered Robinson in the SION postgame press conference. "I got a bunch of hits, but it would have been much better to get a win. Can I trade 5 hits for the win?"
D. Robinson hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
