Rich Bruce really did a number on the Aliens in the Saint James 11-5 victory. Not just anyone can get 5 hits in 5 at-bats. But Rich Bruce did just that today for the Sultans and gave his batting average a healthy boost and sparked his club in the win.
"I felt real good in the batter's box today. I had confidence in my swing and knew that it was there and that I could get the job done," the 21-year-old first baseman said after his record-setting performance.
R. Bruce singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off G. Rochefort in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This year Bruce is batting .363 with 3 home runs.

 | Saturday, April 12th, 2025: 5-7 Day for Lawrence!
If just anyone could go out and hit a baseball, big dollar contracts wouldn't exist. But they can't, so the good hitters get the big bucks. Curtis Lawrence showed how it's done as he went 5 for 7 against the Alexander City Chiefs and helped the Elbridge Aliens beat them 19-6.
The manager for the Chiefs told the SION sportswriters, "We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it. That's the game of baseball. Don't make mistakes and you win a lot more ballgames."
If Lawrence keeps hitting like this, he could be headed for a big pay raise.
C. Lawrence doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
To date Lawrence has chalked up a .388 average with no home runs, driven in 6 runs and scored 10 times.

 | Monday, June 3rd, 2024: Craney Batters Cortland Big Time!
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Steven Craney. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Craney went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Cortland pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Ballpark of Elbridge, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the Elbridge Aliens had a 7-5 victory over the Solars.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
S. Craney hit a three-run home run off J. Robertson in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, doubled in the 10th and hit a two-run home run off C. Morrison in the 12th.
Craney is hitting at a .588 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 4 runs scored. He has played 5 games for the Aliens.
