| Breaking News | | Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025: Injury Ends Career of David Lawson From the moment it happened, it was clear that David Lawson's injury was serious. The Chiefs right fielder suffered a ruptured disc while throwing the ball. For safety's sake, Lawson was carted off the field in a stretcher. The initial diagnosis was bad and the follow-up assessment at the hospital was even more grim: Lawson's career is over.
So far this season Lawson has hit .250 with no home runs, 3 RBIs and and scored 5 times. | | Monday, June 2nd, 2025: Alexander City Bats Silenced by Conner He didn't put a spell on them. It wasn't black magic, it was just old-fashioned good pitching. That's how Ralph Conner of the Epping Conquistadors blanked the Alexander City Chiefs 7-0.
After tossing a complete game 3-hit shutout, he was all smiles, saying, "I threw a lot of my pitches for strikes in this game. I mixed it up and tried keeping these guys off balance."
His own skipper said, "He's at his best when he gets ahead of the hitters." Conner walked 1 and struck out 6 in the victory.
The Chiefs manager commented on their lack of success against him, saying, "He was throwing his breaking ball for strikes and we never capitalized on any of his mistakes."
So far this season Conner has a record of 2-7 with 25 strikeouts and 20 walks in 47.2 innings and a 5.29 ERA. | | Monday, May 26th, 2025: Young Raps Weymouth for 5 Hits Bob Young was on fire today and sparked his club to a 10-8 victory over the Pit Bulls. The Alexander City right fielder was a tough out and went 5 for 6 against Weymouth in a fine hitting display.
"I got my pitches and I connected. They all found the right holes on the diamond. Some days you hit shots and they're right at somebody...and some days they fall in."
B. Young flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off W. White in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
Young is currently batting .357 with 1 home run and 9 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 34-29, .540 PCT | | Position in Division | 2nd, 1.0 GB | | Record at home | 18-14, .563 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-15, .516 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 6-1, .857 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 12-10, .545 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 22-19, .537 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | | Record in April | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in May | 15-11, .577 PCT | | Record in June | 5-4, .556 PCT |
