This week José Valdéz, first baseman for the Dugway Hailstorm, hit everything in sight to win the Sub League 1 Player of the Week trophy.
He rattled fences and pitchers as he banged out a .536 average and .581 on-base percentage. Valdéz logged 15 hits in 28 at-bats, 5 home runs, 10 RBIs, 3 walks and scored 8 times.
Valdéz is batting at a .340 pace in 2025, picking up 137 hits in 403 at-bats with 28 home runs, 93 RBIs and 91 runs scored.

 | Friday, August 1st, 2025: Dugway's Thomas Injured
After the end of today's game between Dugway and Anaheim, Steve Thomas skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, the Hailstorm had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The reliever will miss at least 1-2 weeks with dead arm syndrome.
In 2025, Thomas has made 15 relief appearances, recorded 1 save and compiled a 1-0 won-lost mark and a 2.04 ERA. In pitching 39.2 innings, he has totaled 35 strikeouts and 14 walks.

It is unknown at this time if there is any truth to the rumor that Dugway's Júlio Rivas has asked his team for a trade. Insiders indicate the third baseman may not be happy with the club management. So far, the team's owners have refused to comment.
