| Breaking News | | Saturday, August 2nd, 2025: Wood Holds Skyknights Scoreless "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus. He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
And that's what Tex Wood did as he led the Showstoppers to a 11-0 shutout victory over the Skyknights.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," the Jersey City manager said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
Wood yielded 4 hits and had 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in a standout performance.
Checking out his stats for the season, Wood has notched 8 wins and 11 losses in 25 starts, 4.31 ERA and struck out 55 batters in 158.2 innings. | | Tuesday, July 1st, 2025: Johnson Wins SL2's Best Bat Trophy Beach balls were coming in at Mitchell Johnson in June and he banged, bashed, and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .396 batting average and hauling in the Sub League 2 Batter of the Month trophy.

To the press after the ballgame he modestly said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today -- Bingo! -- 5 hits in 6 tries! But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story."
At the end of the game Mestres had collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Showstoppers had won.
The beat writers were happy, too. They had their big story -- they could write about his big day with the bat.
R. Mestres doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 8th.
His current batting average stands at .289 and he has chalked up 14 home runs and 68 RBIs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 73-47, .608 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 35-25, .583 PCT | | Record on the road | 38-22, .633 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-4, .200 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 23-9, .719 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 18-12, .600 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 55-35, .611 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 21-7, .750 PCT | | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | | Record in June | 15-10, .600 PCT | | Record in July | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in August | 7-2, .778 PCT |
