| Breaking News | | Saturday, April 19th, 2025: Sánchez Zeroes in on Hialeah The Toledo manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about António Sánchez, who had just hurled a fine 1-hit shutout over the Hialeah Mariners. He had 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in the Toledo 4-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Hialeah manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
| | Thursday, May 23rd, 2024: 5-Hit Game for Shirley! It doesn't happen very often, but it happened for Jason Shirley -- a 5-hit day. He went on a rampage at Hialeah Grounds and paced the Mariners to a 9-4 win over the Paradise Cutthroats.
After his dynamite batting performance the Hialeah third baseman told the press, "I just tried to get myself in a good count and have a good at-bat. That's all I can control." His philosophy paid some great dividends today. He slammed 5 hits in 5 tries and put his name in the record book.
J. Shirley singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Shirley is batting .322 with 2 home runs. | | Friday, May 10th, 2024: Hit Parade! Connolly Pops 5 Hits! It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Cordell Connolly. When the dust settled on the diamond at Aggressors Stadium, he had a career 5-5 day and something he will long remember. And the Fort Washington Aggressors had a 12-3 victory over the Mariners.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
C. Connolly hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.
