| Breaking News |  | Thursday, May 9th, 2024: Payne on Rampage Against Reindeers!
Robert Payne really sizzled at the plate today. In a game played at Ballpark of Big Rapids, the Big Rapids third baseman blistered the Lake Heritage Reindeers for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace his club to a 15-4 victory.
"Payne was too tough to get out today," the Reindeers skipper said in his postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
R. Payne doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Á. Alonso in the 8th.
Thus far this year Payne has hit .357 with 2 home runs and 24 RBIs.

 | Tuesday, May 7th, 2024: Ellis on Top of His Game
In an excellent mound performance, Curt Ellis of the Paradise Cutthroats whitewashed the Big Rapids Foresters 8-0 on a 5-hitter.
He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."
The Big Rapids manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Ellis did a good job keeping us guessing."
In all, the Paradise hurler rang up 1 strikeout and 3 walks in the shutout win.
In 2024, Ellis has chalked up 1 win and 3 losses in 6 starts with 8 strikeouts in 32 innings and a 6.47 ERA.

| Monday, May 6th, 2024: SL1 Presents Player of the Week Trophy
It was announced today that Big Rapids catcher Octávio Núñez has been acclaimed by the Sub League 1 as the Player of the Week for his outstanding play last week.
Núñez posted a .550 batting average as he collected 11 hits in 20 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 RBIs.
In 2024 Núñez is hitting .340, batted in 23 runs with 5 home runs and 26 runs scored.
